You can attain "Full Membership" in CCC by being informally nominated by one or more of the "Founding" Members. That "Founding Member" then notifies one of the officers, who will send you an information packet to help you decide if you wish to join.
A list of officers and Founding and Full members is on the CCC web site, http://asgard.kent.edu/ccc. Accepting CCC membership carries the accompanying responsibility of paying a $300 annual facility fee, a $100 annual station support fee, a one time initiation charge of $600, and confers these privileges:
1. Perpetual invitation to operate at Signal Point, the group's Curacao QTH, any time a CCC contest operation has been organized for one of the six majors (ARRL DX, WPX, CQWW, both modes), or the ability to organize your own operation for any non-booked contest, and
2. Rebate of all of your annual facility fees, in the form of rent reduction, if you participate in rental of Signal Point at any time in the future, and
3. Very infrequent and moderate rent increases, because as the property improves, the rent burden will mainly be increased for non-CCC members.
4. First priority on booking rental of Signal Point for any contest week or any other week of the year, and
5. A CCC logo golf shirt with your first year's Full Membership. (Click here to see the shirt logo.)
CCC and the entity ("CG/Curacao Group") that owns the property are non-profit operations. All funds collected support the costs of operating and improving Signal Point and the PJ2T station. No portion of any revenue will be turned over to the owners of the QTH as profit. (For accounting purposes, the facility fees you pay will be treated as prepaid rent.)
Your fees dollars will be credited to your account and will remain on credit indefinitely. (While the minimum amount is $300, some members have chosen to contribute more annually, and these additional amounts will also remain on credit perpetually.)
Each person's membership year will run from 1 June to 31 May. At the end of each year, you will be responsible for payment of another $300 facility fee and $100 station support contribution for the following year if you choose to continue as a Full Member. Payments may be made in start-of-year lump sum or quarterly increments. You will be assigned a nickname that only you will know, and the status of your account will be accessible by password on the group's web site. Payment reminders will be sent by E-mail.
Your facility fees will be rebated if you rent Signal Point. Each week's rent will be reduced from $1100 to $800 until any unused credit on your account has all been used. If you have more than $300 credit, the rent will still be $800, but your unused credit will be carried forward. This is done to assure reasonable revenues during CCC rentals. (Costs for non-CCC members are higher.)
Also, each licensed amateur participating in a weekly rental will be asked to pay a station support fee (see rates) into the PJ2T treasury to help with upkeep and improvements of the station. These funds will be used exclusively for the amateur station. This includes both CCC and non-CCC renters.
The house has two bedrooms, each with a full bath. Each bedroom has two double (full) beds.
Examples
K4LT organizes a CCC team to operate the 2001 CW WPX. He and the two other operators for that contest are CCC Full Members. That team would pay a rental of $800 for the station and a station support fee of $225 because they are all three members. The $300 rebate credit could all be taken from K4LT's account, or from the accounts of all three members, as decided by the team. Unused credit remains on everyone's accounts indefinitely.
W8AV organizes a team for the CQ 160 meter contest. He and the three other operators for that contest are CCC Full Members. That team would pay a total rental of $800 for the station and a station support fee of $300.
W9EFL goes to operate the IOTA contest solo. His rental would be $800 with a $75 station support fee.
N5TJ rents the QTH to operate the WPX SSB contest as a single operator. He is not a CCC member. Rent would be $1300, plus a $450 station support fee because WPX is a "major" contest. (Other contests are $200 rather than $450.).
Eight operators from the Yankee Clipper Contest Club rent the place to operate the CW WPX contest. None are CCC Full Members. Total rent would be $1450 plus an $800 station support fee.
Please see "Concepts for Team Use of Signal Point" for more suggestions and examples of how lodging and rental costs might be handled for team operating.
