Goose, W8AV (ex-WD8LLD) is the contest station owner. His 3 acre
lot contains "mass quantities" of antennas, radios and amplifiers for the
crew's operating enjoyment!
Doug, K4LT (ex-WD8AUB) has been
operating with W8AV for 15 years. Doug likes to operate when the
bands first open and the rates are highest. But, he burns out fast.
(As can be seen above!) He is also the computer/network guru and
tower monkey.
Jeff,
KU8E (front) has also been operating with the W8AV crew for many years.
Jeff's specialty is everything! He can run, hunt multipliers, relief
op, or take a rig for hours on end. Lately, he has shown an interest
in operating the grave yard shift on 40 or 80.
Gary, AF8A (center) is a perennial op at W8AV. Gary likes to run,
hunt multipliers, or just about anything else we throw at him. Usually,
he is our Sunday "keep at it" utility man. While the rest of us are
burned out, he comes in and keeps the rates going.
Jim,
W8WTS (ex-WB8WTS) is a loooong time WD8LLD op. He recently re-joined
us after a few operations at K8AZ. I recall him operating with us
at WB8KKI in Wooster in 1980. Jim loves chasing multipliers.
But, this year, he did dueling RUNs with Doug, K4LT to the tune of a total
rate of over 180 per hour!
Dan, W8RZ (ex-N8ARD) is a relative new-comer to the W8AV crew. However,
he has also operated at other big contest stations. Dan has established
himself as a perennial W8AV op, rarely missing a contest with us!
Like Jim, Dan is a "can-do" type operator, as comfortable with high rate
runs as in chasing those multipliers for us.
Dan, N8DCJ has operated with the crew on and off for many years.
Here, he is at the helm on 20 meters on Sunday during the CQWW
CW 97. Dan really racked up those late Sunday qsos while the
rest of the crew was recharging their batteries.
